First Federal's Turtle Races

Summer brings races of all kinds – including the First Federal Turtle Races!

The 6th Annual Red, White & Blue Turtle Races were held on Friday, June 25, at Arkansas State University Mountain Home. Over 75 turtles from Baxter County registered for the race.

The Mountain Home winners: 

  • First Place:  Gabe Sutton of Salesville and his turtle Torton, #22. 
  • Second Place:  Breanne Sample of Flippin and her turtle Sally, #58.
  • Third Place: Jaycee McBee of Mountain Home, a Chester's Investor Club® member, and her turtle Franklin, #1. 

 

First Federal Bank’s 28th Annual Turtle Races were held on Sunday, July 4, on the Square in downtown Harrison. A total of 330 turtles registered for the race. Racers were from Harrison and cities all over Arkansas: Alpena, Bentonville, Everton, Fayetteville, Green Forest, Jasper, Lead Hill, Little Rock, Marshall, Omaha, Rogers, Sheridan, Springdale, St. Joe, Valley Springs, Western Grove, and Yellville. Registrants also came from California, Alabama, and Texas.

The Harrison winners: 

  • First Place:  Trell Tramell of Everton, a Chester's Investor Club® member, and his turtle Speedy, #130. 
  • Second Place:  Isaac Drewry of Valley Springs and his turtle Spikey, #215.
  • Third Place:  Sierra Everhart of Harrison, and her turtle Tom, #59. 

The winners received trophies and had their picture taken with Chester T. Chipmunk, the president of Chester’s Investor Club, First Federal’s savings account for children.
